2024 Amp Open Players r.jpg

Well, we have another Amputee Open in the books. This year’s event was held at the Nanton Golf Club this past July 20 & 21 2024. In attendance this year were 3 new AASRA members which was great to see. I would like to thank all those members who made the trip down to Nanton. The weather was very hot on the weekend and made golfing a bit of a challenge for most people. We were treated to some very good food both Saturday and Sunday.

Day one ended with Kelly Masson in the lead with a round of 79, followed by Vic McClelland at 85 and Randy Cameron with 92. In the Stableford Division the first saw Ivan Hlavenkacome in with 26 points followed very closely by Cory Galloway with 25 and Wendy Frazier at 11 points. After our round we enjoyed a very nice dinner of chicken and ribs.

Day two saw Kelly Masson shot another round of 79 with Vic McClelland also coming in at 79. Pat Griffin had a nice recovery shooting 92. In the Stableford Division day two saw Cory Galloway repeat his round with 25 points. Ivan Hlavenka scored 11 point and Wendy Frazier scored 10 points.

The Associated Division saw Spencer Easthope come away with 51 and 48 points, which was some very good golf.  Cindy McClelland finished with 21 and 20 and Sherri Hlavenka finish with 19 and 15 points after 2 days of play.

At the end of 2 days of golf Kelly Masson was awarded the trophy for this year’s event, Well Done Kelly! Kelly finished with a 2 round total of 158 and Vic McClelland second with 164. In third place was Randy Cameron with a total of 189.

The Stableford Division saw Cory Galloway come in first place with a 2 day total of 50 points followed by Ivan Hlavenka with 44 and Wendy Frazier with 21.

The Net scores were unusual this year as Kelly and Vic finished 1 and 2 in both Net and Gross. With Kelly coming in at 144 net and Vic at 146. As AASRA does not award 2 prizes to one person the results changed and the awards were handed out as follows:

  • Gross and Amp Open Champion 2024: Kelly Masson with 158
2nd Gross: Randy Cameron with 189 and 3rd Gross: Hugh Hamilton with 194

  • Net: 1st Vic McClelland with 146, 2nd Terry Shwetz with 150 and 3rd Pat Griffin with 157

  • Stableford: 1st Cory Galloway with 50 points, 2nd Ivan Hlavenka with 44 and 3rd Wendy Frazier with 21.

  • Associates: 1st Spencer Easthope with 99 points and 2nd Cindy McClelland with 41.

I would sincerely like to thanks our hole sponsors for their support for this event. All AASRA members greatly appreciate your generosity. If you are a client of these sponsors please thank them. â€‹Thanks goes out to:
